Many workplaces all across Australia may leave it up to the individual as to how they dress when they come to work every single day. What you wear to work, however, reflects who you are and so you want to be able to make a positive start with your fellow workers, your business clients and of course your boss. Smart casual seems to be the norm but you may be missing out on many opportunities if you are not wearing a business suit to your place of work. Statistics tell us that around only 10% of Australian workers wear a suit to work and this will have a negative effect on their future.
If you’re going to invest in one thing this year then it should be bespoke suits because buying one off the rack in a typical department store is an equally bad decision. It may be cheaper but it will not fit you properly and you certainly will not be looking your best when it comes to making business deals and getting people to sign contracts. There are many different reasons why the suit maketh the man in Australia and the following are just some of those.
- It increases confidence levels – Wearing a perfectly fitted suit will certainly make you feel more confident and potential clients will have confidence in you. Wearing casual clothes to important business meetings is not a good look and if you look the part in any situation then you will definitely get the part. Wearing a smart suit will give you the confidence that you need to be successful at your place of work.
- Your boss will notice the change – Even though it might not be a requirement to wear a suit to work, you will certainly stand out from everyone else and your boss will certainly notice you. It’s important to be able to stand out from the many people who work at your particular company and by taking the time to get a suit made for you, your employer will definitely know that you are committed to your job.
- You stand out from the rest – If you work in a large company that hires hundreds of different people then essentially, everyone has a number and is easily forgettable. If you want to be able to climb the corporate ladder and you want to be able to get that promotion then you need to do what you can to stand out from the rest. As was mentioned briefly before, only 10% of people wear a suit to work so if you start dressing to impress, there is no reason why you shouldn’t be more successful than others.
The other thing that you have to take into consideration is that wearing a suit to work every day makes getting dressed in the morning easy and straightforward. If you’re going for the smart casual look then you need to prepare your clothes the previous night to make sure that everything matches.
