In this series, Emma shares her tips for traveling responsibly, packing efficiently, and staying safe while traveling

As a travel-loving gal, Emma loves nothing more than exploring new places and experiencing all the sights and sounds that those places have to offer. To make her trips as responsible as possible, she follows these guidelines for packing efficiently and staying safe while traveling:

Pack lightly. Unless you are visiting an exotic destination where carrying more is necessary (such as backpacking in Asia ), try to pack as little as possible when traveling. This not only makes your trip cheaper but also allows you to take home more souvenirs!

Stay safe. No matter where you are going, always be mindful of your surroundings and take precautions when traveling in unfamiliar areas.

Stick to well-known tourist destinations and avoid walking alone at night, using unguarded ATM machines, or accepting gifts from strangers. Emma also recommends never leaving valuables unattended in a car or on the beach – be sure to keep them hidden out of sight!
