Food Consumption during Covid-19

In addition to affecting my food consumption, Covid-19 also affected my purchasing behavior. For instance, since I did not know how long the condition would last, I was cautious about what I bought. I ensured that I was mainly buying the necessities in large quantities since I feared they would be out of stock the next time I required them (Di Crosta et al., 2021). Moreover, since I had suffered a salary reduction, I had to sacrifice some products I had previously used. For example, previously, I had embraced the habit of eating snacks during the day. However, since I had little finances, I decided to sacrifice the snacks and stick with other necessities. Moreover, since earlier, I have been spending money on luxuries. For instance, I was purchasing luxurious watches, clothes, and shoes to catch other people’s attention. However, I quit buying this product and started buying the necessities that would keep me safe during this period  (Hire Dissertation writer experts).

Moreover, Covid-19 affected

my purchasing behavior since I feared that I would be infected at one point or another. For instance, previously, I was usually spending most of my money and not saving for once to cater to emergent healthcare instances. However, after the outbreak, my fear of falling sick increased significantly (Tao et al., 2022). This reason triggered me to start setting aside finances to cater for myself in case I was infected. When I was later infected, I did not struggle too much since I had already set aside finances to cater to this occurrence. When I recovered, I continued to set finances since I was worried I could be infected again. Even after the cases of Covid-19 infections reduced, I continued saving for my healthcare emergencies. This process helped me to build a culture of saving, and in the future, I will not suffer because of a lack of finances if unexpected health emergencies happen.

The outbreak of Covid-19 also changed my perspective regarding food and cooking. For instance, previously, I was eating a lot of junk food in restaurants. The main reason was that I viewed junk food as sweet compared to the other food cooked a home. However, after Covid-19, it took much work to find this food since most restaurants were closed (Brizek et al., 2021). Since I could struggle to find food from the restaurant, I started to embrace the cooking habit. Since I had not adapted to cooking, I was usually suffering but determined to know. I checked how to cook every meal on YouTube until I perfected the art. The other reason I embraced cooking was that I wanted to remain healthy. One of the ways that I could take control of my health is by maintaining a healthy diet. This motivation made me embrace cooking since I could maintain most healthy food requirements. Since then, I have started to fall in love with cooking, and my cooking skills have improved. Currently, I usually prefer food that I cook at home rather than buying at a restaurant (Contact term paper writers using this link).

Covid-19 also affected my family and my local community. For instance, in most instances, we had a family meeting at least once a month. However, it took much work for us to meet after the outbreak of Covid-19 and the most movement barriers. When we tried and found it inconvenient, we started using technology to overcome this barrier. We usually started hosting zoom meetings at least once a month. However, we still felt we needed a connection despite using zoom meetings. For instance, when we were meeting, we could share a meal that we could no longer share in the new normal. This process disrupted the family relationship with connection (Browne et al., 2021). This issue had a huge impact since even when people were allowed to move, most of the family members did not show the urge to meet anymore.

In addition to the family, the Covid-19 outbreak also affected our community. Normally we met with the community members in social activities such as cleaning and sports. However, after the outbreak of Covid-19, most people remained in their houses. Since we lived for months without seeing each other, the connection that we previously had was affected. For instance, most people are no longer engaging in social activities they were previously happy to engage in. This impact has caused a rise in the region’s criminal activities since most people do not value their neighbors as they were.

The emergence of Covid-19 also hugely impacted the BIPOC and disadvantaged communities. In most instances, these groups depend on government food and well-wishers’ aid since they do not have stable jobs, while others are entirely unemployed. However, after the outbreak of Covid-19, the country suffered from food shortage. The main reason is the level of local production reduced while the number of imports also reduced. Furthermore, since most people had reduced income, they were striving to purchase only necessities and did not have a surplus. This process reduced the number of foodstuffs that the disadvantaged people could reduce from the general public. Furthermore, most of these individuals were laid off from their jobs that were doing eliminating the sources where they could receive funds. This was when most disadvantaged groups recorded the highest suffering due to insufficient food.

Covid-19 hugely impacted my life, my family, and the community. For instance, I started reducing the number of meals and the amount of food per meal. It also exposed me to the anxiety of food scarcity. Furthermore, it caused me to start valuing cooking rather than eating at the hotel. Besides, I stopped being a spendthrift and started spending only on value products. Also, Covid-19 negatively affected my family and community relationship. It also hurts the disadvantaged group who struggle with food scarcity. The government should ensure it prepares to prevent the negative impacts that could be caused if another outbreak arises.
